I love building model cars but I hate gluing and painting. My ideal model car consists of entirely pre painted metal/fabric/etc components which bolt/screw/snap together. The more details the better. No, I didn't get exactly what I desire for Christmas, but this no glue/paint metal bodied stingray is still pretty sweet... If only the engine bay wasn't a faux sheet.

Gluing and painting is like 80% of building models though. I think what you enjoy is admiring the assembled models, and they have incredibly detailed models you can buy already made.

I recently went to Toys R Us and was disappointed that they only had like 3 model kits and NO paint/ glue. When I was a kid, models had their own isle.

While I will admit admiring the pieces is what I like the most, admiring the nuts bolts that go into the thing is far more enjoyable then fiddling with chemical compounds to colour and bind them.

Try Hobby Lobby. Last time I stopped by my local one there was a whole isle of model kits and train set stuff.

Nowadays they don't even stock model kits in Toys 'R Us stores here in Malaysia. Not even snap kits. Now to figure out what's behind the surge in Gundam's popularity...

I agree, epoxy and glue is a real bitch if you aren't very good at it. But those models are always the most detailed ones.
